Valentine's Day is one of the most popular holidays in the US and the UK. And it is also a great occasion to propose, making it the second after Christmas/New Year's Eve popular day to get engaged. According to WalletHub, 48% of Americans agree that proposing on Valentine’s Day is romantic. Indeed, 9 million people would propose in the US and more than a million in the UK on February 14th, 2020.
Despite such popularity and heavy marketing, this Day remains utterly romantic.
In addition to the engagements, Valentine's Day is a popular choice for a wedding, especially if it happens on a weekend or Friday evening. In LA, this is by far the most popular Day. According to LA time, there are four times more weddings on February 14th than on an average day.
A similar trend can be seen across California and the Southern states in general. But even in the Northern part of the US and in the UK it is quite a popular wedding day choice.
Planning a wedding day on February 14th requires a lot of effort and luck – as this Day is also incredibly popular among so many couples, married and not. Most places got reserved well in advance. Some couples decide to wait 2-3 years to get the Day of their choice. Others opt for the closest weekend.
In Boston, where I live, it can be risky, as snowfalls are quite frequent at this time of the year. But so far, we were lucky.
While planning their wedding on this day, most couples are avoiding look cheesy and do not bring too much of the red roses or hearts into their design.
Love letters are quite popular, as well as pink/coral and lilac colors.
Valentine's Day or not, the most important thing is love and the feeling of happiness.
And this love is what I witness at the weddings I help to plan.
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I keep thinking about my couples, their love for each other, their contagious happiness, and their kindness.
These thoughts fill me with beautiful feelings and bring a smile to my face.
I count my blessings and wish them all many happy occasions to celebrate their love.
This year, my husband and I will be staying in the Miami area for Valentine's Day. We will escape the cold and gloomy Boston, enjoy sun and warmth, and drink some Champagne to each other's health and well-being. That is what couples do after spending many years together:)
